CLI reference
Use gaionix-coder run, tui, continue, compact, retry, session, and queue commands through the shared Rust runtime.
Commands at a glance
| Command | Purpose |
|---|---|
tui | Interactive terminal chat, approvals, steering, and slash controls. |
run [PROMPT] | One headless task; omit PROMPT or use “-” to read stdin. |
continue SESSION_ID [DIRECTION] | Continue the latest eligible failed or cancelled turn. |
retry SESSION_ID [DIRECTION] | Fresh linked attempt after the latest failure or timeout. |
compact SESSION_ID | Manual context summary through the existing compactor and cost guard. |
session list | show | resume | Inspect sessions; resume is the compatibility continuation command. |
queue list | status | add | remove | Inspect or change runtime-owned follow-ups; add can execute work. |
Provider and task options
gaionix-coder run "Inspect the failing test" \
--workspace . --model MODEL_ID --reasoning-effort auto
gaionix-coder run --help
gaionix-coder compact --help
gaionix-coder retry --helpUse --provider gaionix-gateway (default) or custom-openai-compatible. Custom providers require --custom-base-url. Use --workspace to bind tools and local sessions, --output jsonl for structured output, and --max-steps to set the execution limit. The default is 64; 0 means unlimited.
Manual compaction
gaionix-coder compact SESSION_ID --workspace . --model MODEL_IDCompaction uses the selected provider and may make one billable summary call. It requires an idle, reconciled runtime. A valid, complete summary must pass schema and reduction checks before a checkpoint replaces context. No automatic retry occurs. In the TUI, enter /compact.
Continue and Retry
gaionix-coder continue SESSION_ID "Finish the remaining tests"
gaionix-coder retry SESSION_ID
# Custom-provider sessions also need their endpoint:
gaionix-coder retry SESSION_ID --custom-base-url https://YOUR_ENDPOINT/v1Saved source-turn model, reasoning, access mode, and task settings are preserved. To override them, explicitly provide provider, model, and reasoning together. Retry accepts eligible failure/time-out states; stopped or step-limited work uses Continue. Both create a fresh turn and check durable tool outcomes.
TUI keys
| Key / command | Action |
|---|---|
| Enter | Submit a draft; normal active-turn submissions join Queue. |
| Ctrl+S | Steer the active turn using the draft. |
| Ctrl+C | Request cancellation of active work. |
| Ctrl+Q | Request safe cancellation and exit. |
| /continue [DIRECTION] | Continue eligible unfinished work. |
| /retry [DIRECTION] | Retry an eligible failed or timed-out turn. |
| /compact | Summarize the idle session context. |
| F3 | Open the workspace session picker. |
Output and exit status
Runtime stdout carries JSONL protocol only. Human CLI output may contain assistant text; diagnostics use stderr. With --output jsonl, output is structured, including agent events and terminal outcomes.
| Code | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 0 | Completed command |
| 2 | Configuration, rejected request, or ineligible control |
| 3 | Agent/provider task failure |
| 4 | Cancelled |
| 5 | Runtime/protocol failure |
| 6 | Blocked safety or ownership boundary |
