Gaionix Coder for VS Code
Install the extension, configure provider credentials in SecretStorage, and use chat, reviewed edits, and agent controls in your workspace.
Open Gaionix Coder
Install the Marketplace extension or verified VSIX, open your intended project, and choose the Gaionix Coder activity icon. “Gaionix Coder: Start Agent” starts the shared local runtime. Restricted workspaces do not activate trusted workspace tooling. Review Workspace Trust deliberately.
Configure the provider
Run “Gaionix Coder: Configure Provider Credentials”. Choose Gaionix Gateway or an OpenAI-compatible endpoint, then select a model and reasoning effort. Keys use SecretStorage. Do not put credentials in normal settings or your repository.
Write, inspect, and approve
Send a focused task, inspect streaming output and tool requests, then review proposed file changes. Approval-required shell or file actions wait for your choice. Plan mode restricts tools to read-only work. The composer distinguishes new drafted work from Continue for an eligible old task.
Use the controls
Use Continue or Retry only when the source turn is eligible. Type /compact in an idle chat. While a task is running, Queue holds a follow-up and Steer redirects the active turn. Stop requests cancellation and waits for cleanup. Control semantics and limits →
Historical UNKNOWN state
An uncertain submission remains UNKNOWN until authoritative evidence resolves it. “Archive unresolved locally” requires confirmation and only removes active local pending controls. It does not prove failure, cancel external execution, retry, or unlock the old Continue action. Repeating the same intent can duplicate previous work.
Runtime compatibility
The stable extension bundles runtime 1.0.0 and protocol 0.1 for macOS Apple Silicon. Retain the matched package and avoid custom executable overrides unless intentionally developing the runtime. If verification fails, reinstall the verified package rather than mixing binaries.
